Perform an Illegal Abortion, Go to Death Row! They don’t play in Texas!

Texas Governor Rick Perry recently signed legislation requiring abortions providers to obtain parental consent prior to performing abortions on minor children. This measure coupled with a change in the legal definition of an “individual ” in the homicide statute two years ago, could result in a cases involving doctors who perform illegal abortions being prosecuted as capitol murder cases.

The Waco Tribune Herald reports:

Doctors who perform illegal abortions in Texas could be prosecuted for capital murder and face a death sentence under recent changes in Texas law that have resulted in apparent unintended consequences.

While officials familiar with the new legislation say such prosecutions are unlikely, the possibility of a doctor on death row, whether intentional or not, puts a sharp focus on the importance of analyzing legislative activity every two years, officials say.

Prior to 2003 the definition of an “individual” in homicide statutes was “a human being who has been born and is alive.” Now it means “a human being who is alive, including an unborn child at every stage of gestation, from fertilization until birth.

Needless to say there was a lot of debate surrounding abortion. And as a result a deal was struck exempting legal abortions from being subject to the homicide statutes. But illegal abortions were not exempted. For example, if a doctor performs an abortion on a 12 year old child without her parent’s permission, that doctor not only guilty of a crime, but could also face the death penalty.

I don’t know if this was intentional or not. But it will definitely make doctors think twice before performing abortions. And that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Four California Women Die Killed by RU 486… Abortion advocates deny there’s a problem

Despite the fact that four women in California have died from infections related to the use of mifepristone also known as RU 486, leading advocates of abortion are denouncing calls to take the potentially fatal drug off the market.

Their argument… “It’s still safer than having a baby.”

According to the Los Angeles Times:

Health officials are investigating whether there are any links in the cases of four California women — at least two in Los Angeles County — who have died since 2003 of massive infection after taking the so-called abortion pill, RU-486, and a follow-up drug.

The state and federal probe follows an announcement last month by the Food and Drug Administration, after the June death of a Sherman Oaks woman, warning doctors and patients of the potential for serious bacterial infection under certain circumstances.

At the heart of the inquiry in California are why and how the deadly infections developed and whether more women might have been harmed.

In a July 2005 press release by The Annals of Pharmacotherapy Brown University professor Ralph P. Miech, MD, PhD, proposes two models of how this devastating reaction may occur.

During an abortion, mifepristone works by blocking the effects of progesterone, shutting off nutrition to the placenta and fetus. However, Miech points out, the antiprogesterone effects of mifepristone also cause changes in the cervix that allow C. sordellii, a common vaginal bacteria, to enter the cervical canal. C. sordellii thrives in this low-oxygen environment and derives nutrition from the decaying fetal tissue. Meanwhile, other hormonal effects of mifepristone, known as antiglucocorticoid actions, are taking place throughout the body. Through two models proposed by Miech, these antiglucocorticoid effects may interfere with chemical regulators known as cytokines, offsetting the delicate balance between over- and under-activation of the immune system. This disruption impairs the body’s ability to fight off C. sordellii and may help spread the bacteria’s toxic by-products, a combination that sometimes results in widespread septic shock.

But refusing to allow any restrictions on abortion, no matter how dangerous the procedure might be, abortion supporters continue to deny any causal effect and still claim that RU 486 is not as dangerous as childbirth.

Vicki Saporta, president of the National Abortion Federation, said such concerns were vastly overblown. “There has been no causal relationship established between the medical abortion and the subsequent infection,” she said. “This is a very, very rare occurrence…. Childbirth is 10 to 13 times riskier than having an abortion, either medical or surgical.

Tell that to the child being aborted!

Pro-Abortion vs Pro-Life…The key question is “When does life begin?”

Pro-Abortion vs Pro-Life…The key question is “When does life begin?”
We have tied
Now, I won’t waste my time giving you all of the scientific data that supports the fact that life begins at conception. The absurdity of your masturbation comment demonstrates that no matter how overwhelming the facts, you have made up your mind.
The real key to our disagreement is based on our very different understanding of when life begins. If I believed as you did that life began at conception, I would have to agree that your position makes sense. But I just want to ask you to consider the following:
1. If you did believe that life began at conception (not saying that you do) wouldn’t you then consider the a baby in his mother’s womb life?
2. Could that life have done anything to warrant being taken? And if not wouldn’t that make it innocent life?
3. What do we call the taking of innocent life? Would the term “Murder” be appropriate?
The logic is clear and obvious. If one is intellectually honest and morally consistent, then how one feels on this issue should be based on when one believes life begins.

You argue for the rights of the pregnant woman, because in your eyes, she is the only life involved in the equation. Thus, her rights are paramount. Understanding this, rather than refer to you as immoral or evil as many of my Pro-life allies would do, I prefer to think of you as misinformed.

But those of us who believe that life begins at conception, you must agree, believe that we are fighting to protect the pre-born child’s right to live.

Parental Notification Advocates win argument over ballot language.

A Sacramento Judge ordered changes in the ballot statement submitted by opponents of the Parental Notification initiative on the upcoming special election ballot. Unfortunately though, their ballot argument still stretches the truth.

According the Associate Press:

Superior Court Judge Raymond Cadei refused to strike a voter guide statement made by the measure’s supporters that parental notification laws in other states had reduced teen pregnancy and abortion rates “without danger and harm to minors.”

He also ordered opponents to find other wording than to say that girls who sought a waiver from a judge would be put “on trial.”

But Judge Cadei did let stand a statement that “millions of concerned parents” oppose the initiate; even though the opposition offer no data to substantiate the claim. Additionally, the judge refused to replace the word “teenager” with the more proper term “minor” in their statement. The reasoning for the change was that the term teenager includes 18 and 19 year olds who are considered legal adults and not subject to this measure. But it leaves out 10, 11 and 12 year olds who are covered.

Abortion advocates want to pose this issue as a matter of “The government telling a woman what to do with her body.” But what Prop. 73 really does is protect a parent’s right to protect their minor child from harm.

Why? Because even liberals like Hillary Clinton and John Kerry support parental notification. (Don’t believe me? Read “This is about Parents’ Rights” )

They understand that it is not necessarily an abortion issue. It’s about Parent’s Rights.

Seeking Common Ground

I originally posted this piece back in March, but a recent commentary at Booker Rising brought up how Pro-life and Pro-Abortion Groups could work with members of the Black Congressional Caucus. I am still a firm believer that the only way we can work with the Pro-abortion crowd is if we set some parameters.

___________________________________________________

NARAL Pro-Choice America and their President, Nancy Keenan have embarked upon an aggressive campaign calling on Pro-life Advocates and supporters of abortion to find common ground where they can work.

The San Francisco Chronicle Reports:

Keenan noted that NARAL recently placed full-page ads in conservative publications, including the Weekly Standard, which invited political opponents to work together to develop efforts to reduce abortions and unwanted pregnancies — a development she said would better the lives of women and children around the world.

I have to agree with Ms. Keenan on this issue. As someone who is Pro-Life, I believe that it should be illegal to kill an unborn child. But the reality is that abortion is currently legal. Understanding this fact, I believe that it is incumbent upon us to make every effort to at least reduce the number of children being sucked down the sink. And this does not have to be mutually exclusive of our fighting to stop abortion all together.

Having said that, In order for this “coming together” to work, Ms. Keenan, NARAL and others in the Pro-Abortion movement must be willing to work with us in the following areas:

Acknowledging the harm abortion causes. At least we must let women know of the physical and psychological risks that women face when having abortions. Also, it would be immoral to not discuss the physical pain that the unborn child experiences during this procedure. This will help women, who are considering an abortion, make a fully informed decision.

Promotion of abortion alternatives. If the goal of NARAL is truly to make abortion “legal, safe and rare”, then we must remove the barriers that have prevented discussion of alternatives to abortion during the pre-abortion counseling process.

Broader implementation of Abstinence Focused sex education. Studies show that abstinence is the ONLY Guaranteed way to prevent either unwanted pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases.

Streamlining the adoption process and making it more affordable. Statistics show that states which have taken the most aggressive stances against abortion, are also the most likely have a complicated and costly adoption process. This must change.

I’m willing to bet that this new “common ground” theme is nothing more that a PR stunt. But if abortion advocates truly willing to find common ground, I think we should at least see how serious they are.

Enemies of Parental Notification Stretch the Truth

In a lawsuit filed yesterday, supporters of Prop. 73 challenged the ballot arguments submitted by opponents which were not supported by the facts.

An Associated Press story filed last night states:

Parents’ Right to Know, the group behind Proposition 73, said in a lawsuit filed Thursday that it objects to the Campaign for Teen Safety implying the law would apply to “teenagers” when it would cover only minors under 18. The sponsors also want the state to strike language saying “millions of concerned parents” are against the initiative without data backing that claim.

“It is illegal to present such false material because it costs several million dollars for the secretary of state to produce the official voter information guide and in several languages,” said Albin Rhomberg, a spokesman for the pro-amendment campaign.

Rhomberg said his group also wants the state to strike or amend a section of the other side’s rebuttal claiming “these teens don’t need to be put on trial,” a reference to a provision of the amendment that allows judges to provide girls with waivers exempting them from the parental notification requirement.

Prop. 73 opponents are also seeking changes in ballot language but their arguments, like their name are not supported by the facts.

Meanwhile, the Campaign for Teen Safety, which opposes the amendment, brought a lawsuit Friday on behalf of two California pediatricians and a public health expert. The group said it had identified language it wants stricken from the soon-to-be-published pamphlet that is mailed to registered voters.

It objects to the phrase provided by Parents’ Right to Know: “Over 30 states already have such laws, and their real world experience shows these laws reduce minors’ pregnancy and abortion rates without danger and harm to minors,” the disputed section reads.

The group argues that the parental notification law wouldn’t reduce pregnancy or abortion rates while putting teenage girls at risk of botched abortions, poor prenatal care and family conflict.
“Frightened teenagers who have doors closed to them are more likely to take unsafe risks than get the medical care they need,” said Dr. Michael Taymor, a Palo Alto pediatrician who lent his name to the lawsuit.

How can a group call itself “Campaign for Teen Safety” when they advocate performing abortions on 12 year old girls without their parents even knowing?

Abortion Supporters agree that Abortion is Mostly about Convenience

Today’s Washington Post is reporting:

A new analysis of the most recent abortion data shows that the number of U.S. women having the procedure is continuing its decade-long drop and stands at its lowest level since 1976.

In the year 2002, about 1.29 million women in the U.S. had abortions. In 1990, that number was 1.61 million.

But as usual the mainstream media has left out much of the story. For example, this study, which was conducted by Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health® (PRCH) and The Guttmacher Institute acknowledges that 96% if all abortions are performed as a matter of convenience for the expectant mothers.

Less than 3 % of all abortions are performed to protect the health of the mother and less than 1 percent of abortions were to terminate pregnancies due to rape or incest. The most common reasons given by mothers for killing their unborn children are as follows:

• 21% Inadequate finances
• 21% Not ready for responsibility
• 16% Woman’s life would be changed too much
• 12% Problems with relationship; unmarried
• 11% Too young; not mature enough
• 8% Children are grown; woman has all she wants

So, in regards to abortion, what we are truly weighing is a woman’s right not to be inconvenienced vs. a child’s right to live. The health of the mother is barely a factor in the abortion decision.

Other untold stories:

Amongst Industrialized nations, America is second only to Australia in the rate of unborn children put to death. They must use the word “industrialized” because even subconsciously they agree that there is nothing civilized about killing children.

Almost 50% of those having abortions have had previous abortions. And yet they insist that that women aren’t using abortion as a form of birth control?

Black and Hispanic women together make up more than half (51.8%) of women having abortions. “This proportion is greater than their proportion in the population because they have a higher rate of unintended pregnancy, and, among black women, because they are more likely to resolve an unintended pregnancy through abortion. Black women make up less than 12% of the US female population, but according to the CDC they make up nearly 35% of all those receiving abortions. (see Abortion! Because Lynching is for Amateurs!)

71% of all abortions are performed in abortion clinics. These are not impartial hospitals or doctor’s offices where a woman has access to objective information on the risks of abortion or the availability of abortion alternatives. These folks have a huge financial interest in the expansion of the abortion industry.

52.4% of those who have abortions are 24 years old or younger; almost 20% are teenagers. These are young women and teenagers who are too young to understand the psychological and physical damage that can be caused by abortion.

Although the report declares abortion to be safe, only mortality statistics are given. There are no statistics acknowledging the number women who have suffered physical complications or psychological trauma as a result of abortions.

Here are just a few that I found:

• 1 in 4 (24.3%) – Complications in future pregnancies (may include excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical damage, and sterility). Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia 1979; 58:491-4

• 1 in 2 (CA 50%) – Emotional and psychological disturbances lasting for months (may include depression, insomnia, nervousness, guilt, and regret). McGovern, Celeste, “Hag-Ridden by Post-Abortion Guilt,” British Columbia Report, 10/18/93; British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1980; 87:1115-22

• Approximately 60 percent of women who experience post-abortion sequelae report suicidal ideation, with 28 percent actually attempting suicide, of which half attempted suicide two or more times. Researchers in Finland have identified a strong statistical association between abortion and suicide in a records based study Gissler, Hemminki & Lonnqvist, “Suicides after pregnancy in Finland, 1987-94: register linkage study,” British Journal of Medicine 313:1431-4, 1996.

Eugenics Program Keeps “Undesirables” From Reproducing

Example
Elaine Riddick was sterilized secretly
by the government. (ABC News)

In North Carolina, from 1900-1974 a government sanctioned program sterilized 65,000 men and women to keep them from breading.

And even today, the government still funds a privately run organization established for the same purpose. It’s called Planned Parenthood.

According to ABC News:

From the early 1900s to the 1970s, some 65,000 men and women were sterilized in this country, many without their knowledge, as part of a government eugenics program to keep so-called undesirables from reproducing.

“The procedures that were done here were done to poor folks,” said Steven Selden, professor at the University of Maryland. “They were thought to be poor because they had bad genes or bad inheritance, if you will. And so they would be the focus of the sterilization.”

Today, Planned Parenthood continues on with the work of these programs. Advocates for Planned Parenthood will say that this is not so, but one only needs read the words of the organization’s founder, Margaret Sanger:

  • It [charity] encourages the healthier and more normal sections of the world to shoulder the burden of unthinking and indiscriminate fecundity of others; which brings with it, as I think the reader must agree, a dead weight of human waste. (From Margaret Sanger’s Early Writings 1922)
  • Always to me any aroused group was a good group, and therefore I accepted an invitation to talk to the women’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan…” (Margaret Sanger’s Autobiography)
  • The minister’s work is also important and he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members (November 1939 memorandum entitled “Suggestions for the Negro Project,”).

And if you think that Planned Parenthood has changed it’s agenda, check out a previous post “Abortion! Because Lynching is for Amateurs!”

I am not much of a conspiracy theorist. But don’t you find it interesting that the government run eugenics program ended just after the 1972 ruling which made abortion a constitutionally protected right?

This is about Parents’ Rights

Example

The Parental notification Initiative looks to be on it’s way to qualifying for the next statewide ballot. The media and pro-abortion activists are doing everything possible to make this issue about abortion. But isn’t it really about a parent’s right to raise their children?

The San Francisco Chronicle article entitled “Abortion initiative shifts vote climate:Special election would no longer belong to governor”, starts off:

A fight over the ever-divisive abortion issue threatens to pull the spotlight from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plan to put measures to change state government on a special election ballot in November.

Why do liberals persist in attacking this matter as an abortion issue? Because they know when it is couched as a matter of Parental Rights, they lose. Even liberal politicians cannot justify usurping parents’ rights by allowing abortions on their children without their knowledge.

Last January, for example, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., told a crowd at a rally marking the 32nd anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, which legalized abortion, that she supported a parental notification law that would include exceptions for teenagers estranged from their families.

A few days later, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who touted his pro-choice credentials during the 2004 presidential campaign, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “I am for parental notification.”

Does this mean that Hillary Clinton and John Kerry support parents’ rights? Not necessarily. More likely, it means that they can read polls.

A May 2002 Field Poll showed that while 63 percent of the state’s registered voters supported abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy, a nearly identical 62 percent backed a strict law that would require teenagers younger than 18 to get their parents’ consent before obtaining an abortion.

With such overwhelming support for parental consent, it should be no problems passing parental notification. But it won’t be approved without a fight.

Groups such as Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union have vowed to fight the measure if it makes the ballot.

The initiative is political overkill, said Justine Sarver, vice president of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California…

With the abortion industry on the unpopular side of this issue, it will be interesting to see the angle they take in opposing this initiative. I can see their slogan now:

Give us your babies, so that we can kill their babies!

Pro-life Democrats Making Progress? Don’t Be Fooled!

Example

Democrats are making attempts to woo back some of their more conservative members by becoming more “Pro-Life” friendly.

But don’t let their rhetoric (aka Bull Excrement) fool you. They have no intentions of changing their abortion on demand policies.

State Senator Carol Migden said the following to the San Francisco Chronicle:

“safe, legal and rare,” Migden said, should be the talking point for Democrats. “We hope it doesn’t happen, and we want good school counseling programs” to prevent it, she said, “so it’s not a philosophical shift, it’s a change in language and a desire to unify the message.”

Keep in mind that, Democrats here in California and in Washington DC have made no attempt to make abortion either safe or rare.

As a matter of fact, in California parents are having to fight just to be informed when their children leave school to get an abortion. Additionally, Attorney General Bill Lockeyer is suing the federal government for withholding funding to states that force medical providers to provide abortions against their will. This includes California (just in case you hadn’t already figured that out.) And a few weeks ago, the California State Assembly passed a resolution celebrating a woman’s right to choose (to kill her unborn child.)

It doesn’t sound to me like they’re trying to make abortions safe or rare. But, as the Bible says, “By their fruit, you shall know them.”

Example

Worldnet Daily is reporting:

Amid a grass-roots campaign organized by a traditional-family lobby group, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer backed off yesterday on his opinion that public schools cannot inform parents if their children leave campus to receive certain confidential medical services that include abortion, AIDS treatment and psychological analysis.

I doubt that Mr. Lockyer has truly seen the light and decided to give parents the benefit of the doubt. More likely, political uncommon sense took over (Thanks to a little nudging from parents rights groups). Why can’t liberal politicians seem to get the idea that no parent wants to have his or her authority usurped by the government.

Here’s a bit of Irony:

Did you know that your 12year old daughter can’t go to a tanning salon, even with your permission? (Assembly Bill 2193) But according to Bill Lockyer, this same child can leave school for an abortion without you even knowing about it?

Did I miss something here?

Abortion! Because Lynching is for Amateurs!

Example

If Blacks want to know why we should be against abortion, they only need check out this site www.klannedparenthood.com . The abortion rights movement has accomplished through Planned Parenthood what the Klu Klux Klan could only have dreamed.

Consider the following:

  • A black baby is now more than three times as likely to be murdered in the womb than a white baby.
  • Since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by over 25 percent.
  • Twice as many African-Americans have died from abortion than have died fromAIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined.
  • Every three days, more African-Americans are killed by abortion thanhave been killed by the Ku Klux Klan in its entire history.
  • Planned Parenthood operates the nation’s largest chain of abortion clinics andalmost 80 percent of its facilities are located in minority neighborhoods.
  • About 13 percent of American women are black, but theysubmit to over 35 percent of the abortions.
